On October 23, the first meeting of the Innovation Competition Commission was held at the Ministry of Economy.

The event was attended by representatives of the relevant institutions that are members of the Commission - Ministries of Education, Youth and Sports, Transport, Communication and High Technologies, "ASAN Service" and the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources, international organizations.

The chairman of the commission, the deputy minister of economy, Sevinj Hasanova, emphasized the importance of innovations in terms of modern development trends in the world, ensuring sustainable development of the economy, increasing competitiveness and export potential, and strengthening environmental protection. It was noted that one of the important goals of the strategic documents adopted in order to ensure sustainable development is the promotion of innovations. Thus, in the "Azerbaijan 2020: vision of the future" Development Concept approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 29, 2012, as well as in the Strategic Road Maps covering various sectors, a number of goals related to innovation have been determined. The deputy minister pointed out that Azerbaijan has joined the new global Sustainable Development Goals initiative, which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets of the UN, and one of the goals of the UN Sustainable Development Agenda until 2030 is to build solid infrastructure, inclusive and sustainable industrialization. is to encourage and encourage innovation.

Then Elnur Ibrahimov, an employee of the Sustainable Development Department of the Ministry of Economy, made a presentation about the purpose and importance of the Republican Innovation Competition.

At the meeting, the proposals of the representatives of state institutions and international organizations, which are members of the Commission, were heard, discussions were held, and the areas of assessment and competition were approved.
